She is a wife, mother, and a person of deep and abiding faith. She earned her J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago magna cum laude while raising three small children and living through a fire that destroyed their home. Prior to private practice, she was appointed to serve as a judicial law clerk to federal judge Hon. Morton Denlow. Before law school, she served as the Chief Financial Officer of a Chicago publishing house. She graduated summa cum laude from Augustana College and earned her CPA.

She enjoys the great outdoors (“God’s Cathedral” as she calls it), spending time with her family and friends, playing the piano and singing, skiing, mentoring, reading, writing and speaking on matters that touch the heart, watching God work in our lives, and inspiring, blessing, and encouraging others.

A Note from Charlene:

In 2004, Dad and I retraced his steps through Europe that he had taken sixty years before during World War II. Like most war veterans, he seldom spoke of the war, and I set out on a quest to discover what had happened during those formative years that made him the wonderful man that I knew. During our journey, I discovered my dad’s faith in action through kindnesses shown, promises kept, and lifelong friendships forged. Angels of Ebermannstadt, an inspirational story of faith and friendship during World War II, is a timeless tale of how God can use each one of us, even in our ordinariness, to be a light of goodness that shines in the darkness. It is a tribute to those humble heroes of the Greatest Generation who served our country in its time of greatest need. This book is dedicated to the brave men and women of the armed forces who have courageously served our country and, in doing so, have fanned the flames of liberty and carried the torch of freedom at home and throughout the world.
